Although poets write their poems in solitude, they do take pride in their craft and usually want to share their poems with an audience. PoetsWest coordinates a variety of reading venues, provides a network for poets and poetry, and produces a weekly radio program of poetry, stories and music from the studios of KSER 90.7 FM in Everett, Washington."

Forest Marek Beutel at Maven Mercantile

Forest has been writing and performing music ever since he started playing piano when he was five years old in his home state of Rhode Island.  He started his first band when he was 15 and they had toured the East Coast down to Georgia and back by the time Forest was 17.  Now at 30 years of age, Forest is based out of Tacoma, Washington where he is the leader of two successful bluegrass bands (The Barleywine Revue and the Rusty Cleavers) and is also an accomplished solo performer.  He sings while also simultaneously playing the banjo, harmonica, bass drum, and hi-hat.  Beutel’s voice blends the high-lonesome sounds of Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt with baritone vibrations akin to Tom Waits and Johnny Cash.  His voice combined with instrumentation creates the Americana Blues and is great to listen to while dancing, laughing, and drinking with friends.

Diana Oliphant and Madraka Festival Art at Burien Press

I am an artist, in all that I do. My preferred medium is mixed media painting, however I am frequently a model, actress, wardrobe stylist, make-up artist, hair stylist, production manager, and assistant director. When I am not the director of a concept, I see my role as a tool in the directors vision; a brush to their canvas.
